Canada's Fashion and Clothing History

I have been reading an analytical paper called 'Stretching or Shrinking? The Textile
and Clothing Industries in Canada' by Diana Wyman and it has really opened up my eyes to the Industry in terms of Canada. It explains how the the clothing that is shipped to Canada is increasing very quickly, and how the clothing being made in Canada is decreasing at a sturdy rate.
When you look at your clothing tags, and look where they are made it is almost always something along the lines of China and Taiwan. However, 70% of the clothing consumed in Canada less than 20 years ago was made right here. Since then the quotas that determine how much clothing sold in Canada has to be made in Canada has been eliminated.
I have never really thought about the topics present in the article but for a starter to this assignment it has opened my eyes on how much the clothing and fashion industry has been changing throughout the years and makes me wonder what is next for the Canadian Industry? Is there anything left? Is there any reason for merging Canadian fashion designers to go forth with anything?
